BT C&SI :

James was responsible for writing responses to RFI's and RFP's relating to IPVPN provisioning solutions using products from Metasolv, Intelliden and Cramer. He was also charged with the creation of a demonstration platform which consisted of Cisco 10000 series routers running as MPLS PE's and Cisco 2600 and 3600 routers running as CE's. The platform used Metasolv IPSA to modify in real time the QoS applied to streaming video traffic running from server to client across the IP VPN. James was also involved in a project for BT Openzone to study various aspects of the 802.11b WiFi platform. Originally a two-week contract, James remained at BT for nine months.

 

Energis :

James was responsible for the MPLS IPVPN provisioning system at Energis. The platform was based on a product called Orchestream from Metasolv software. As the system Design Authority, James was actively involved in the deployment of this solution and was subsequently engaged in the deployment of complex QoS solutions on the Cisco platform which underpins the IPSelect product set.

 

 

Cable & Wireless::

James was the UK Design Authority for C&W's Internet Dial and Secure Dial platforms. He was also responsible for the Layer 3 aspects of the xDSL solution (LLU). Once again this was a three month rolling contract which resulted in a two-year position.

 

BBC :

James' contract at the BBC involved a UK-wide rollout of Bay routers, the commisioning of the BBC's UK, US and International Remote Access solutions and the development of a corporate Virtual Private Network. Originally a 3 month contract, James worked at the BBC for over two years.

 

 

Deutsche Bank :

A two month contract to roll out Windows NT Workstation 4 across the Emerging Markets division of Deutsche Bank. This involved the the migration of all user data from the existing Netware servers to the new NT inrastructure. Several critical applications including Reuters PTW were integrated into the new build.

 

 

NDS :

This contract involved the rationalisation of the NDS cc:Mail system including the implementation of an X25 RAS solution based on the SITA public network.

 

 

Research Machines:

As an Installations Engineer, James was responsible for commisiong MS LAN Manager networks in Schools, Colleges and Universities.

 

 

Dun & Bradstreet:

James' post-graduate career began at Nielsen - a subsidiary of Dun & Bradstreet. As a Support Engineer, James was responsible for the day-to-day operational support of the IBM OS2 LAN Server network.
